Tamar Valley Farm Discussion Group
In 2020 we received funding from the Tasmanian Government's Pastures Pathway Small Project Fund to set up and run a Farm Discussion Group for red meat producers in the Tamar Valley. It continues today...
Since November 2020, a group of 12 to 15 farmers has met monthly to exchange information and learn about all aspects of running a farm business. Topics include animal management, soil and pasture management, carbon farming, trees and vegetation, and technological innovation.
The formal funded project ended in July 2021, but the group continues to meet and is taking on new members. Tamar NRM is happy to continue to support this group. It has proven to be a very successful venture providing an excellent way for farmers to engage in 'over the fence' learning to develop sustainable, productive businesses and good environmental outcomes for the Tamar Valley region.
