The University of Tasmania is undertaking an exciting restoration project at the Inveresk campus!
Time & Location
26 July 2026, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
University of Tasmania, Inveresk Campus, 2 Invermay Rd, Launceston TAS 7248, Australia
About the event
At Inveresk, the UTAS Sustainability team has been leading an Ecological Restoration project that covers over 5,000m2, of which 3,000m2 will be intensively planted and seeded.
The aim is to convert a flat lawn into a biodiverse area that mimics six local native plant communities. The project will plant over 3,000 native plants and direct seed over 800m2 with the goal of establishing dense areas of native plants that supress weeds and provide habitat for insect populations.
Activities:
Mulching,
Planting,
Watering,
Monitoring biodiversity and
Weed management

This national tree day event will also be supported by ongoing working bees, please see https://www.tamarnrm.com.au/events For more information, or reach out to lars.roberts@utas.edu.au. School groups are also welcome, but please contact Lars in advance.
