community clean-up of
kanamaluka / The Tamar Estuary
Monday 3rd to Sunday 8th November, 2020
In November, 2019 the inaugural “Catch it in the Catchment” clean-up event was held. The community got right behind this event cleaning up at 25 sites, with 300 participants, and 200 bags of rubbish collected.
This year we seek your help to keep our major waterway and surrounds free of rubbish.
The Week-long Event means more schools, community and sporting groups, and business can find a convenient time to spend just a few hours to participate.
More than just a clean-up. The Catch it in the Catchment clean up provides an opportunity to highlight the important link between us in the catchment and our estuary. Let’s ‘catch’ litter (especially plastics) before it enters our estuary and makes its way to the sea.
Catch it in the Catchment – Aims and Objectives:
• To remove rubbish from the kanamaluka/Tamar Estuary, as it is detrimental to its ecological health, aesthetic value and economic potential
• To increase the communities’ understanding of the impact human activities and behaviours can have on the waterways in the Catchment.
• To offer a broad range of stakeholders an opportunity to participate in a positive community action as a way of responding to the problem of litter in the estuary.
Family and friends, school, community group and workplaces, are warmly invited to join this community clean up and help make a difference to our beautiful kanamaluka/ Tamar estuary.
