Catch it in the Catchment 2019 Report

25 Sites, 300 Volunteers, 200 Bags of Rubbish

Tamar NRM’s community whole of kanamaluka/Tamar Estuary Catch it in the Catchment clean-up event was held for the first time on November 10th 2019.

We had 300 volunteers in 25 sites along the Tamar from Greens Beach to Launceston to Low Head cleaning up their patch for a Morning followed by a BBQ lunch hosted by different groups.

Almost 1200kg of rubbish was bagged in 200 bags, plus a lot of larger items all of which were removed from reserves, foreshores, roadsides and creeks and the estuary. The City of Launceston, West Tamar and George Town councils as well as Veolia helped out by removing the rubbish for us.

Trevallyn Primary School students sorted out the potential container refund scheme containers, counting over 180 containers from 30 bags.
